Grange Park @ Mid Kent College

During Key Stage 5, our students are able to access the college partnership sites.

Grange Park’s partnership with Mid Kent College, Medway has been running since 2011 and from September 2015, we have also had a partnership site at Mid Kent College, Maidstone. Students attend college for 5 days a week. For 3 days, students access college courses with the support of Grange Park staff and the remaining 2 days are tailored to meet the needs of the individual, whether that be travel training, work placements or other life skills.

The emphasis is on enabling students to become, by the time they leave Grange Park @ Mid Kent College, independent learners who can go on to study at Mid Kent or other colleges by themselves as well as equipping them with the skills to be independent adults gaining apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.

Students are able to access all the facilities that a large college can offer and it also provides an environment in which they can grow and develop beyond school. The state of the art sites house a range of top-quality workshops and laboratories as well as large Learning Resource Centres and refectories. Students learn in the Learning Zones and socialise in the Social Zones. The college day begins at 8.30am and, depending on lectures, finishes between 3.30pm and 5.00pm.

Whilst at Grange Park @ Mid Kent College, students keep their Education Health Care Plans. Transport is still provided by the Local Authority as it would be if they attended Grange Park @ Wrotham. Currently students are dropped off at the entrance where Grange Park staff meet them and at the end of the day, students are taken back to meet the taxis.
