Drama and Performing Arts
In Key Stage 2, Drama and Performing Arts is taught on a rotation with music. The skills and knowledge the children develop can be broken down into these key areas:
- Rehearsing and performing with others
- Listening and appraising
- Playing tuned and untuned instruments
- Singing and performing
- Expressing feelings about music and performance
- Composing & Improvising
At Key Stage 3, Drama and Performing Arts is taught on a rotation with music. All pupils will study drama for one 50 minute lesson each week for three terms. Pupils cover a range of topics, from Pantomime in Year 7 to Commedia Dell'Arte and Shakespeare in Years 8 and 9 respectively. The overarching focus of drama at Grange Park School is to help pupils develop communication skills, confidence and empathy; valuable attributes for life after school.

Each year, pupils across the school are given the opportunity to take part in the Shakespeare Schools Festival, the UK's largest youth drama festival that offers pupils the opportunity to perform Shakespeare on a local professional stage.
Furthermore, a yearly summer talent show is held at the school, where pupils can share their creative side with peers and parents in a familiar setting.
